The Donna Camilla Savelli hotel complex, was created from a 17th century convent, originally designed by Francesco Borromini (1599-1667).
A corner of tranquillity in the heart of the Trastevere, the Donna Camilla Savelli lies at the foot of the Granicolo, in Via Garibaldi 27.
The hotel takes its name from the founder of the religious institute. It was during the year 1642, when Donna Camilla, noble lady of the Farnese family, commissioned Francesco Borromini to design the convent of the “Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori” and the adjoining namesake church.
After an immaculate restoration, with respect both to the architectural criteria of the Baroque period and of the original project of Borromini, the convent has been transformed into a four star hotel.
